que is the default linker: el libro que leí. quien/quienes after a preposition or as a person-only relative: la gente con quien hablé.

Things and people (default)
Use que for both things and people.
El libro que leí es fantástico.
The book that I read is fantastic.
People after prepositions
Use quien after prepositions referring to people.
La mujer con quien hablé es mi jefa.
The woman with whom I spoke is my boss.
Common mix-ups
Keep con to express “with whom.” Con quien and con la que can both refer to this person.
The girl I went to the cinema with is nice.
