Your learning record

Keep your progress between conversations.

Your assistant can help you practice. Fabling keeps a separate learning record it can return to, with your permission.

Practice at your level

Bring your current vocabulary and grammar evidence into the conversation. Find words to revisit and topics that need a little more time.

Save what you learn

Ask to mark a word known or learning, save a brief record of completed practice, or choose what to work on next.

Use the same record elsewhere

Use the same Fabling account with another compatible assistant. Your saved words and focus are there when you ask for them.

An example, in Spanish

Practice with your saved vocabulary.

Common questions

What is an MCP server?

An MCP server lets an AI assistant use tools and information from another service through the Model Context Protocol. Fabling’s server gives a connected assistant access to your saved vocabulary, grammar evidence, and practice focus. It can save changes only with the permissions you grant.

Can I use Fabling with ChatGPT or Claude?

ChatGPT account linking and read access have been tested. Follow our ChatGPT setup guide to get started; saving changes through ChatGPT is still being verified. Claude offers custom connectors, but the Fabling connection has not yet been verified. Fabling is not yet available in either public directory.

Why use Fabling alongside my AI assistant?

A conversation is useful for practice. Fabling gives that practice a structured record: words you know, words you are learning, grammar evidence, and what you want to work on next. Connected assistants can retrieve the same record, so you do not have to explain everything again in a new chat.

Is the connector free?

Yes. You can connect an assistant and keep your learning record without a Fabling subscription or a card. There is no vocabulary-size paywall in the connector. Your assistant may have its own account, region, or plan requirements.

What can an assistant read or change?

With read permission, it can retrieve your current vocabulary, grammar evidence, recent practice, and saved focus. Separate permissions allow word-status corrections and practice updates. It cannot read billing details or private tutor conversations through these tools.

Does it use my original estimated level?

Practice context uses current vocabulary and assessed grammar evidence. Onboarding assumptions are reported separately. The suggested practice level is provisional, and incomplete records can make it conservative. Your assistant should adjust with you rather than treat a label as a complete measure of your ability.

Can I mark words known or learning?

Yes. With vocabulary write permission, ask your assistant to find a word and update its status. Words come from Fabling’s Spanish and French vocabulary. The change also appears in your Fabling vocabulary library.

Does saving practice mark grammar as mastered?

No. External practice is saved as reported activity. It does not certify mastery, count as a scored review, or change your review schedule. Saved focus can guide connected assistants; it does not yet choose stories or podcasts in the Fabling app.

Can I disconnect later?

Yes. Open Your connections to review permissions, see recent saved changes, or disconnect an app. Disconnecting stops future access. Information already shared remains subject to the assistant provider’s privacy policy.

Connection help

If a save is denied, check the app’s write permissions. Set up a missing language in Your connections, or reconnect an expired connection from your assistant. For help, email fablingapp@gmail.com with the assistant’s name and what happened. Keep passwords and access tokens private.
