The method

A language is acquired by understanding messages that sit just beyond what you already know. Fabling makes that condition ordinary: a story you can follow, audio on the same line, grammar from the text, and conversational speaking practice with an AI tutor.

See a story become practice

A recording of the Fabling interface: open a story, listen as you read, look up a word, and return to vocabulary review.

The walkthrough uses sample learner content. The tutor segment shows its starting screen, not a recorded conversation.

Try it yourself with a Spanish story or a French story.

01

Calibrated to your level

Stories draw on your vocabulary, level, and interests. Difficulty feedback helps adjust the balance of familiar and new language in subsequent stories. The target varies with the learner; it is not a guarantee that a fixed percentage of every passage will be familiar.

Ana bajó a la tienda. Carmen le dio el pan.

Most of the line is already in reach. A couple of words are the stretch.

02

Audio on the same line

Listen while each word highlights. Tap a word for a definition, or for an explanation of the sense that belongs to this sentence. You stay in the story instead of leaving it for a dictionary — the condition in which attention can still be called flow.

Tap a word

The spoken word lights up as it is read.

03

Grammar from that story

After you finish, a short rule using lines you just read, then two or three check questions. The pattern is named after you have already seen it work. Quizzes and the grammar tree stay in step with what the stories have shown.

A finished action in the past

  • Ana sonrió, pagó y volvió a casa.

These three verbs sit in the pretérito: things that happened, then ended. The story already showed the pattern; this just names it.

Spoken practice with your AI tutor

Reading and listening give you language to draw on. Speaking gives you practice finding it when you answer. With 10 minutes a day of live conversational practice, your AI tutor talks with you about the stories you have read and the words you are learning.

Answer aloud, ask a follow-up question, and take time to find your words. You can practice privately and try again when you need to.
